What are this year's top flight goalkeepers wearing on their hands?
Arsenal - David Raya - The One Glove
It seems that David Raya has captured the starting spot between the sticks at the Emirates from Aaron Ramsdale. In the process, Raya has indisputably become The One Glove's headline endorsee.
He wears an SMU version of the GEO 3.0 Vision model, pictured below.
Aston Villa - Emi Martinez - Adidas
Villa's World Cup winning number one got a pair of Adidas-gloved hands on the famous World Cup trophy in December of last year, making it Adidas' third goalkeeper World Cup win since latex gloves were widely introduced.
Martinez wears a version of the Adidas' new Predator Pro line, specifically an SMU of the GL Competition variation of the glove.
Bournemouth - Neto - PUMA
Neto displaced Mark Travers as Bournemouth's number one last season, and has proven a shrewd acquisition ever since. The Cherries owed much to their Brazilian goalkeeper as they finished clear of the relegation zone last season, and Neto has remained in possession of Bournemouth's number one shirt this year.
The ex-Barcelona goalkeeper is a Puma goalkeeper, wearing a variation of the FUTURE Ultimate Negative cut so far this season.
Brentford - Mark Flekken - PUMA
Like Neto, Brentford's Mark Flekken is another Puma endorse. However, the Dutchman has so far switched between an SMU of the Pro Hybrid model and the Future Ultimate Negative Cut. The gloves differ slightly in their backhand design, as well as their latexes. The Future Ultimate model sports Puma's 4mm ELITE+ latex, whilst the Pro Hybrid model uses a 4mm Duo Supersoft latex.
Flekken's SMU of the latter doesn't feature a wrist strap.
Brighton and Hove Albion - Bart Verbruggen - RWLK
Brighton have gone through a goalkeeping overhaul in recent seasons, with once established number ones Mat Ryan and Robert Sanchez both departing the club for, what seemed on paper at the time, to be bigger and better things.
Alas, each goalkeeper's fortunes haven't drastically improved away from the south coast in footballing terms. But Roberto de Zerbi's willingness to mix it up between the sticks has seen the emergence (and re-emergence) of Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele.
The pair have shared the starting spot so far this season, with Verbruggen bringing RWLK to the Premier League (learn more about the challenger Premier League brand here) and Steele continuing Sells' legacy. Verbruggen has alternated between roll-finger SMUs of the RWLK New Original, and the RWLK Metro Overlap.
Steele, meanwhile, wears what appears to be a SELLS Contour Aqua Fit.
Burnley - James Trafford - Sells
James Trafford's choice of glove this season has been varied, to say the least. The young Englishman has sported two different brands so far this campaign. He opened the year wearing Adidas Predator GL Pros in the White/Lucid Lemon/Black colourway, before switching it up and donning a pair of Sells - one of the new negative cut Aqua models with a wrapped thumb and wrist strap.
Chelsea - Robert Sanchez - Nike
One of Nike's three sole remaining Premier League goalkeepers (and one of their last goalkeeper ambassadors in general) has stayed loyal to his chosen Nike Mercurial Touch Elite gloves. Robert Sanchez began his time in the Premier League at Brighton wearing Nike models, and hasn't changed glove since. The current colourway he wears is the White/Black/Bright Crimson variation.
Crystal Palace - Sam Johnstone - Sells
It took a while for Sam Johnstone to get a real look in at Selhurst Park, but he's now holding Roy Hodgson's side's number one spot despite the Eagles signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United to compete with him. A brief Sells respite in recent weeks saw Johnstone wearing a pair of Nike VG3 RS gloves, but since the international break he has returned to his chosen Sells Aqua variation.
Everton - Jordan Pickford - Puma
England's number one helps Puma up the Premier League tally chart, having been a Puma endorsee for nearly three years now after leaving Nike for the German brand. Pickford's SMU of the Puma Ultimate Pro Hybrid range sports a regular cut, and makes him one of Puma's five starting Premier League goalkeepers.
Fulham- Bernd Leno - Puma
Fulham have nurtured a rejuvenated form of Bernd Leno in the past few seasons. The German goalkeeper finished last season third in the Goalkeeper xG OGV rankings, being worth a whopping 14.58 goals to the Cottagers. Like Jordan Pickford, he's a Puma endorsee, wearing a variant of the Ultimate Pro Hybrid this season.
Liverpool - Alisson Becker - Blacked Out Reusch
The best goalkeeper in the Premier League, Alisson Becker caused something of a stir earlier this summer when he was pictured wearing a blacked out glove in training. Glove spotters later worked out that it was a Reusch model Alisson was wearing; he's continued the pair over the course of this season to date.
Luton Town- Thomas Kaminski - T1TAN
Like RWLK, T1TAN broke into England's top flight this year via new boys Luton Town. The Hatters, who underwent a goalkeeper revamp in the summer, brought in Thomas Kaminski from Blackburn and Tim Krul from Newcastle - who himself wears another challenger brand, PEAK, which he founded.
This season, Kaminski has been wearing the T1TAN White Beast 3.0, featuring a 4mm ‘Gecko Grip’, wrapped thumb, and silicon backhand.
Manchester City - Ederson - Puma
Like Jordan Pickford, Ederson became one of Puma's new-look flagship ambassadors when he moved away from Nike a few seasons ago. Since, the Brazilian has worn a plethora of Puma models including a custom golden SMU to mark his Golden Glove win in the 2020/21 season.
This season, Ederson has been wearing the Future Pro Hybrid model.
Manchester United - Andre Onana - RINAT
Andre Onana has had a mixed start to life at Manchester United. One novelty the Cameroon goalkeeper has brought to the Premier League has been a pair of RINAT gloves - becoming the first goalkeeper to wear the brand in the top flight.
Onana wears an SMU of the Egotiko Stellar Turf.
Newcastle United - Nick Pope - Sells
Shot-stopping extraordinaire Nick Pope has endured a tougher start to the season so far with Champions League returners Newcastle, with Eddie Howe's side sitting eighth at the time of writing. A European showdown with Paris Saint Germain stands ahead of them on Wednesday 4th, and in that fixture it is likely that Sells will see themselves back on European television screens with Pope sporting one of the brand's new Aqua models.
Nottingham Forest - Matt Turner - West Coast
Forest's addition of American goalkeeper Matt Turner to their ranks brought Stateside glove brand West Coast into the Premier League starting spotlight. Turner wears an SMU not currently listed on the brand's website as publicly available.
Sheffield United - Wes Foderingham - Nike
Foderingham is the newest of the Premier League's three starting Nike goalkeepers. The Sheffield United number one's career took a leap forward following Aaron Ramsdale's departure from the club following their relegation back to the Championship in 2021. He has made seven Premier League appearances so far this season - his debut campaign in the top flight.
Foderingham wears Nike's VG3 model.
Tottenham Hotspur - Vicario - Uhlsport
With Hugo Lloris very much out of the picture in North London, Vicario has stepped into the starting spot at Spurs and made it his own. One of only two Uhlsport-wearing starting goalkeepers in the Premier League, Vicario made the switch away from Reusch (in an opposite move to his predecessor Lloris) early in the season.
Most recently, Vicario has been pictured in training wearing what appears to be Uhlsport's Mike Maignan SMU - the Powerline Supergrip+ HN Mike Maignan official.
West Ham United - Alphonse Areola - Uhlsport
Areola is the other starting Premier League goalkeeper currently wearing Uhlsport gloves. Having displaced Lukasz Fabianski from the number one spot, Areola has simultaneously reduced the number of Adidas endorsees in top flight starting line ups by one this season. The Frenchman wears a different Powerline Supersgrip+ model to Vicario.
Wolverhampton Wanderers - Jose Sa - Adidas
Last but not least is Wolves' Jose Sa. Since his arrival in the Premier League, Sa has been a loyal Adidas goalkeeper. He's one of three starting Adidas endorsees in the top flight, and has started all seven of Wolves games so far this season. The purple colourway on the Predator GL Pros he currently wears is unreleased.
